Director Priyadarshan has seen great success in the genre. Some of his flicks like Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, Hulchul might not have had logic but when it comes to tickling your funny bone, they were clean entertainers. Will his new flick Dhol live upto the high expectations from a Priyadarshan movie?

Dhol Story :
This comic carper is about a gang of four goofy aimless guys Sam (Tusshar Kapoor), Pakkya (Sharman Joshi), Maru (Rajpal Yadav) and Goti (Kunal Khemu). They faced only failures in all their attempts to get rich and so they decide to take a shortcut. Their mantra to get rich and lead a five star life is to get married to a girl from an affluent family. Ritu (Tanushree Dutta), a rich girl who shifts in their neighborhood puts an end to their search. The measures that these fool hardy guys take up to please Ritu leads them to an unexpected and complicated mesh.

Dhol Movie Review :
Dhol starts off with a hint of mystery and killing putting the audience into a state of confusion about the genre it deals with. The first 15 minutes of the movie is sluggish and slightly boring. The sequences that follow are hilarious and truly entertaining. The house owner aunty’s sequences are just side splitting. The gags and punches in the enterprise, more so towards the post-interval portions, are truly funny. The movie has its negatives too. The sequences that lead to the search for the Dhol by a gunda, the mystery behind it and his sudden killing could have been made better and hilarious to match a perfect ending for a comic carper. The way the mystery of Rahul and Jai’s death is revealed is also not convincing and gets the house down.
Just like his earlier flick Bhagam Bhag, Priyadarshan’s mix of comedy and mystery is not that perfect in this movie too, but it sure provides ample laughter and entertainment in the final tally. The four actors share a great chemistry and their comic timing is brilliant. Dialogues by Manisha Korde could have been better to suit the sequences at most times. Music by Pritam is good.

Dhol Performances :
Tushaar Kapoor is cast in a role that suits his persona. He handles his part with remarkable ease and emerges a winner. For Sharman Joshi, it’s been there and always savored kind of a role. His performance is brilliant. Kunal Khemu is new to this genre but to everyone’s surprise excels in his performance. Rajpal Yadav has no comparison. He masters his act as a dumb idiot and steals the show. Tanushree Dutta looks ravishing as usual but just average in acting, for her role is constrained.
Om Puri and Farida Dadi are good. Rasika Joshi is excellent. Tiku Talsania, Murli Sharma and Asrani are ok. Arbaaz Khan is just OK.

Dhol Verdict :
Dhol is a refreshing, fun-filled entertainer but not without its share of flaws. Has the potential to grow with a good word of mouth!

Malaika Arora Khan is undoubtedly our industry’s hottest mom who not only oozes style and oomph, but she does it with élan and pride. The lady has many firsts to her credit—the first to perform an item number on a moving train, the first non–model to VJ for a popular music channel and the first model whose stilettos became as big a hit as she was. Now, the latest addition to this list of firsts is being the first mother to appear on the Maxim cover of this month’s edition. Titled ‘Black Velvet’ the photographs show Malaika in black lingerie, striking provocative poses on a couch. The concept of the shoot is by Wendell Rodericks while photographs are snapped by Farroukh Chothia.

After Aishwarya Rai’s ‘Provoked’, there will be another flick on the tale of a young battered housewife stuck up in an abusive marriage. The film titled ‘Heaven on Earth’ will have Preity Zinta playing the role of the protagonist.
The movie, from Toronto-based filmmaker Deepa Mehta, is inspired from the true tale of a Punjabi woman named Amandeep, whose disturbing story Mehta covered in her documentary ‘Let’s Talk About It’. However, the name of the character in the film has been changed to Chand. Actress Seema Biswas has also been signed to play an important role in the movie. Produced by David Hamilton (Water fame), the film will be in English and the shooting will start from November.
The little birdie says that another singer is going to face camera for the big screen and that too for none other than Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The lucky one is Adnan Sami who created stirs by shedding off those massive extras on his body and getting slim and charming.
Sanjay will start the project soon after he wraps up his current one, ‘Saawariya’, but he will not direct this film. Instead, his sister Bela Sehgal will become dubatante director for it. Bela has directed Adnan Sami in numerous videos and is very smitten with his on-screen attraction.
Whether rumours about Kareena Kapoor’s breakup with long time boyfriend Shahid Kapoor is just a publicity gimmick for her forthcoming flick ‘Jab We Met’ with Shahid is still an unanswered question, tis known for sure that Kareena will appear sans makeup in this movie.
Director Imtiaz Ali said Kareena’s clean look is part of her girl-next-door image. The film takes place on a train and follows Kareena and Shahid through a series of adventures after they are left stranded in a remote railway station without luggage or money.
”Have you ever seen people wearing heavy makeup while traveling? In fact, people don’t like applying any makeup,” Ali told a newspaper. “Kareena is one of the few heroines who looks good without makeup.”
When we all thought that gorgeous and sultry Payal Rohtagi was out and out for denims feeling most comfortable in them, whether at home or out, the girl had some other intentions up her sleeve. Of late, the actress seems to be in a total femme fatale mode. She has just gone through a makeover of her wardrobe and is now going in for the demure desi damsel look, sporting pretty gowns, salwar kameezes and even an occasional saree.
Payal chuckles, “Yes, this change of outfit has not just changed my persona but the way I think too. Clothes don’t just make men. They make women too!” Very true indeed.
